14.5.3 Programs towards good aquatic stewardship practices
Programmes for Quality Water Stewardship Practices
Boğaziçi University develops various programmes and incentives that promote and sustain quality water stewardship practices. These programmes are structured to support the sustainable use of water on and off campus. In particular, processes such as grey water collection systems, water recovery and reuse are implemented by the university.
Boğaziçi University has a comprehensive strategy for the efficient use and management of water resources with its Water Management Directive. This directive regulates issues such as the collection and management of alternative water resources such as rainwater and grey water, and the sustainable management of waste water. In line with this directive, the University encourages the efficient use of water and takes concrete steps to protect water resources.
In addition, the Coastal Engineering Laboratory focuses on developing sustainable engineering solutions for coastal areas and water resources, and carries out important studies to protect the health of aquatic ecosystems. The University's work promoting water management and ecosystem health plays an important role in fulfilling its social and environmental responsibilities.
National and international projects such as the INDEPENDENT Project make significant contributions to improve water management and efficiency in the energy, food and environment sectors. These projects demonstrate Boğaziçi University's commitment to developing and supporting sustainable water management practices.
