Boğaziçi University's future planning focuses on maintaining quality in education, achieving leadership in research, increasing international visibility, advancing in community service, ensuring employee satisfaction and creating sustainable green campuses. Sustainable campus life is implemented to reduce environmental pollution and improve energy and natural resource management. In this context, steps have been taken such as constructing new buildings with energy efficient systems and certifying them with LEED certification. Boğaziçi University aims to be an exemplary university campus in national and international platforms with its environmentally and socially sustainable practices. LEED certification is a system that sets environmental sustainability standards and evaluates the green design, construction and operational performance of buildings. This system aims for a more sustainable construction by providing positive environmental, economic and health impacts.

So far, 4 buildings at Boğaziçi University have been registered with LEED certification.

Boğaziçi University ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 50001-2018 Certificates

Boğaziçi University received the ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management System and ISO 50001-2018 Certificates, which the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) reviews the standards every 5 years and revises them in line with the needs.

What is ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 describes the processes, policies and approaches organizations need to establish a sustainable quality management system. Today, it is one of the most common and fundamental management system standards for every sector and company, regardless of the organizational context and field of activity all over the world. Organizations that meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard can obtain ISO 9001 Certification. Businesses that verify the quality management system through independent third-party accredited organizations can thus differentiate themselves in the market and increase their competitiveness.

The ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard provides the necessary rules and procedures for organizations to make their energy use efficient. The internationally recognized standard helps organizations improve energy management and increase productivity. Thanks to the ISO 50001 Energy Management System, all public and private sector organizations can develop the right energy policies and strategies and set consistent targets. The standard describes methods for planning and managing energy use in enterprises, as well as the steps to be taken to increase energy efficiency and the processes to be developed.
