6.5.2 Promoting conscious water usage
Promoting Conscious Water Use
Boğaziçi University organises various projects and educational activities to promote the conscious use of water on campus and more broadly. These initiatives are implemented in line with the National Water Efficiency Mobilisation strategies initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Water-saving technologies such as rainwater harvesting, grey water recovery and sensor taps are used on campus.
The University's Sustainable Development and Cleaner Production Centre (BU-SDCPC) and Climate Change and Policy Implementation and Research Centre (İklimBU) actively support water management projects and research. Organised in 2023, the Climate-Water-Agriculture Summit for a Sustainable Future aimed to raise awareness on the efficient use of water with the participation of experts on sustainable agriculture and water management.

In addition, the Green Generation Restaurant Movement, carried out in cooperation with Boğaziçi University and WWF-Turkey, encourages the conscious use of water by reducing the amount of waste in the food and beverage sector. In addition, reports prepared by Boğaziçi University Institute of Environmental Sciences provide policy recommendations to reduce pollution in fresh water and seas.

The Environment Club, which is active among the students of the university, also contributes to awareness-raising activities on water conservation on campus.
